Remarks:
If the internal and external coils are being replaced, the solder lug 4 and 7 must be replaced.
The cable connected to solder lug 6 must be connected to the humbucker body and the existing earth cable of the neck Humbucker must be connected to solder lug 6.
The cable shields of the Humbucker are always connected to the Humbucker body.

Schaller/Eyb Version E

Version E is recommended for the following pickup configurations:

  • 3 Single Coils
  • Humbucker / Single Coil / Single Coil (Single Coil with reversed polarity)
  • Humbucker / Single Coil / Humbucker
  • Humbucker / Humbucker

A) 3 Single Coils
Positons 1, 2, 4 and 5 deliver the same sounds as a standard 5-way switch. In the middle position the Megaswitch combines the bridge and neck pickup in parallel mode as known from the Telecaster middle Position.

B) Humbucker / Single Coil / Single Coil (Single Coil with reversed polarity)
or
C) Humbucker / Single Coil / Humbucker
When using these pickup configurations, at position 1 and 5 either bridge or neck pickup are on. At position 2 and 4 you get the well known Stratocater sounds and at the middle position the split neck and bridge pickup, as known from the telecaster middle position. In HB-SC-HB combinations all 5 sound are humfree, in HB-SC-SC combinations all except position 5.

D) Humbucker / Humbucker
At positon 1 and 5 either neck or bridge pickup are on. At position 2 and 4 one coil of neck or bridge pickup is on and at the middle position both pickups split as known from the Telecaster middle position.

Schaller/Eyb Version E+

Version E+ is recommended for the following pickup combinations:

  • Humbucker / Singlecoil / Singlecoil (equal polarity)
  • Humbucker / Singlecoil / Humbucker
  • Bass with 2 Pickups
  • Singlecoil / Humbucker (like Telecaster custom)
  • Humbucker bridge / Singlecoil neck

Version E+ has the following advantages compared to Version E:
The Megaswitch E+ is an evolution of the Megaswitch E with the following advantages: used in a guitar with either 2 humbuckers or 2 humbuckers and 1 singlecoil pickup, it gives you the option for the middle position to switch the outside pickups either as humbuckers or split. Futhermore, used in a guitar with 1 humbucker and 2 singlecoil pickups with coils of equal polarity, you can split the humbucker by connecting its serial link towards ground only.
You can also get 5 interesting sounds out of a guitar with a humbucker and a singlecoil pickup. (e.g. Telecaster custom)

The Megaswitch E+ can also be used in bass guitars as a blend control.

Schaller/Eyp Version M

The Megaswitch M is a 5 position switch with 4 independent circuits and 24 terminals.
If this should happen not to be enough, a stacked version is also available. 8 circuits should satisfy any "wiring freak"!

The idea is not really new. There are several switches like this available, but all of them habe some sort of disadvantage. Some are so big that they don't fit into guitars with limited space in the wiring cavity and all of them use soldering lugs, which are often to small to connect several cables - as necessary for most custom wirings.

The Megaswitch M is the same size as all other megaswitches and they are all smaller than standard 5-way-switches. The Terminals are soldering pads that are bin enough to connect a fair number of cables without problems. The terminals are marked A - X.
